vintage pen overview summary

SUMMARY

Up here is a vintage The Eversharp Fifth Avenue Fountain pen, which was manufactured in USA circa 1943. The pen was made of highly sought after ding-free 14k solid gold, and the barrel is in black color. On the cap top is a 'double ticks', representing manufacturer's lifetime warranty. The lever filling system is in perfect working order. The pen has been serviced and tested for full functionality.

When Parker introduced the "51" in 1941, Eversharp was pushed to introduce pen with a more modern look. In late 1943, the "Fifth Avenue" (U.S. Patent No. D137,860 for the nib and gripping section) made its appearance. The Fifth Avenue offered superior materials: the cap was made of vermeil (gold over sterling silver). Besides, there is modification on the hook design allows a nicely flex nib. The modification have raised the production cost of the pen unacceptably. Thus the Fifth Avunue survived on the market for less than 2 years.
